Dr Hawass Calls Bauval a “Crook” and Threatens to Ban him from Entering Egypt

The Mena House Talks on Ancient Egypt on April 24th, billed as a debate between historians Graham Hancock and Dr. Zahi Hawass, (former Egyptian Minister of State for Antiquities Affairs), ended before it began, when on the day of the talks Dr. Hawass stormed out of the hall after refusing to discuss Robert Bauval’s Orion Correlation Theory with Hancock.

Both speakers later gave lectures independently and answered questions from the audience. So, no debate, which is unfortunate.

While both these knowledgeable men have made their positions clear on the Orion Correlation Theory publicly prior to this event, it would have been enlightening for the audience to have learned more about the subject. We can only guess why Dr. Hawass, who obviously feels strongly that Bauval’s theory is incorrect, would not want to state his views behind his own theory on the matter. His refusal to discuss this issue will only create further controversy. If Dr Hawass intends to defend the traditional historical accounting of ancient Egypt, a determination to not discuss the subject at all is most certainly working against him.
